Despacito was released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi in 2017, and quickly became the number one streamed track in just 6 months. The combination of reggaeton and pop music has not only brought interest back to this genre but as well to Latin music generally. Billboard's Top 100 had four songs mostly in Spanish by 2016 compared to two in the year 2015. In 2017, at the height of popularity for Despacito, 19 tracks mainly in Spanish have made it into the Top 100. By 2020 it will have 41 songs within this genre. Justin Bieber's remix in two languages Despacito was released in 2017. After that, some of the most famous artists began collaborating with reggaeton singers. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny for MIA (2018) as well as Madonna was a part of Maluma for the release of Medellin. By 2020 a few reggaeton stars were complaining about their genre's shift towards the mainstream. However, a younger generation namely Rauw Alejandro, aimed to ensure that reggaeton was evolving. Rauw Alejandro incorporated electronic dance forms and others into his music.
