April Ross
April Ross, a beach volleyball star American is part of a select group of women who have been awarded medals at several Olympics. Alix-Klineman is set to compete alongside April Ross Tokyo in order to claim her third gold medal over the coming days. Ross will also be hoping for her very first Olympic gold. With her age of 39, this may be her last opportunity to claim an Olympic gold. However, she's confident that top honors are firmly within reach. Ross through NBC Boston, said that If the team is performing consistently or well they can earn a gold. This is also a matter of chance. Ross was born in California in the city of Costa Mesa in 1982. She lived here with her father, mother and sibling. In Newport Harbor High School, she competed in numerous different sports. Her pre-athletic career comprised indoor volleyball along with basketball as well as running and track. She clearly was the top in the game of indoor volleyball. According to her bio, during high school she played volleyball as an outside hitter (middle blocker) as well as a the setter (outside blocker). She was named one of the Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the Year in 1999, for her performance. The 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Month award was also won by her for volleyball. Ross and Klineman may have begun working together in 2017, but Ross was already an established player at the beach before they joined forces. In fact, she's won numerous events, and one was won by an iconic volleyball player. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 until 2013. Kessy and Ross were strong on the world circuit, winning the 2009 World Championship as a team. This duo went through to take home a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games at London. Misty May, Kerri Walsh and Kerri Jennings were the team to beat out for gold. Ross Jennings replaced May-Treanor as she left the team. They both went on to take home the bronze beach volleyball trophy at the Rio Olympics 2016. They were joined by Walsh Jennings. Ross was a player for the Trojans of USC in her college after graduating from the high school she attended. The time she spent in the Trojans' ranks was one to remember. She was an All-American as well as Pac-10 Freshman of Year when she was a teen freshman. The Trojans were also able to reach the Final Four with her help. The Trojans suffered a heartbreaking personal loss in her sophomore year and yet she went on to repeat in the ranks of an All-American. During her final two seasons with the Trojans in the program they won victories by winning consecutive national championships. Ross was an excellent player on the court, and was awarded the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the most outstanding female college volleyball player. Ross, a USC international relations student was a volleyball star. Margie Ross was never able to see her daughter achieve the heights in beach volleyball. In 2001 when Ross was in her sophomore year studying at USC her mother passed away from breast cancer. As a result, Ross continues to be close to her deceased parent. Also, Margie continues to be an inspiration to her on the beaches and throughout her daily life.
